APPO-affiliated people, so they have created an autonomous health care
system."

STREET MEDIC,60 min, eng, director Luis Manriquez
"Street Medic," a documentary about protest first aid as it evolved over
the past forty years. Includes footage from 60s and 70s Civil Rights and
AntiWar movements (including the American Indian Movement's takeover of
Wounded Knee in '73), as well as interviews with participants. It's woven
together with Luis's own story of his work with anti-war acivism in New
York City in 2002 and 2003, and includes frightening empowering scary
triumphant footage from the police riot during the FTAA protests, Miami,
November 2003, as well as footage from various demonstrations in NYC over
the past few years, including Feb 15, 2003.

Doc Rosen has been a Social Justice / Medical Activist for over 40 years.
He was a Founder of the original StreetMedic Collective in the '60s, a
national board member of Medical Committee for Human Rights and is a
Founder and member of the Board of Directors of GUAMAP. Doc is no stranger
to working in remote areas with Indigenous populations having set up
similar projects on Indigenous Reservations throughout North America and
around the developing world.

"Traditionally in every tribal society, medicine sprang from and was the
property of the tribe and the people as a whole. In the middle ages, the
church based medical establishment deliberately and methodically
substituted a patriarchal, hierarchical medical paradigm. It is my goal
with the projects I've been helping to set up around the world to return
medicine to the hands of the people from which it sprang." - Doc Rosen
